Labor Day weekend is a chance for those looking for bargains to find equipment at significantly reduced prices.

Labor Day is an American holiday where campers and hikers can enjoy the outdoors over a three-day weekend. It is also a chance where shoppers can find great deals on outdoor equipment and clothing. Consider these opportunities during the holiday weekend.

REI, an outdoor retailer, is having a clearance sale over the Labor Day weekend, where shoppers can save 30-50% off on selected items. Some gear deals include

  • The Dragonfly backpacking stove, made by Mountain Safety Research (MSR), has been reduced in price from $129.95 to $89.99. This lightweight stove quickly heats water, and is capable of burning multiple fuels besides white gas.
  • Garmin Colorado 400t GPS. This GPS unit has been marked down from $599.95 to $399.99. According to the product information from REI, the Garmin Colorado comes preloaded with topographical software in a three-dimensional color format. It has an altimeter, barometer, compass, and is capable of sharing navigational information with other Garmin Colorado units.

Cabella’s

Cabella’s is an outdoor equipment company that specializes in hunting and camping gear. The company is having a 20-60% off sale, with 70% in the bargain section. Discounted items include

  • archery equipment
  • t-shirts
  • boys and girls clothing

  • SmartWool hiking socks are $6.96, from $9.95. These quick-drying socks have padded insteps, arch brace, and are designed for ventilation.
